Beautiful Words...

Loving The Evening Light...

I went out for a tiny session with my daughter, I wanted to catch some yummy evening light.
I got a little but the session was just a few minutes, not exaggerating at all.
Why, you ask?
Well, I am lining up my focus and I hear her say,
"Um, Mom?
You have a bug on your shoulder aaaaaand...I'm pretty sure it's a tick!
Come closer.....
YES!
IT'S A TICK!!!"
She knows how I feel about insects but especially ticks!
They are so gross that I can't
even touch them to take them off. So, I'm in the middle of a road freaking out, she slaps if off my shoulder and we both calm down.
Until....
I find one on her dress! Then it starts again and it gets even worse when we start looking closer just to find we are covered in the little nasty things!
Thankfully we were only a few yards from home. We jumped in the car, drove home and ran for the showers. Why did we have the car if we were so close? We had planned to travel a little way and find beautiful little pockets to shoot in. That didn't happen.

Traumatizing.
Here are the photos I did get. I haven't processed all of them but here are a few.

Finding The Light...

Photography is not about aiming and shooting.  That is not how I look at it anyway. Photography is all about finding and capturing light.  Yes, if it's daytime and you have some sun you are able to capture an image in your little box. Beautiful images can come of just that. I do it all the time.

However, sometimes the light is there...just right...and I find all the glory and challenge in capturing the majestic light. This is the light that I prefer.

Random...

These are all random images.
Just because.

This first one I call 'The Skunk'. Do you see him?
Shot at about 8:30ish pm.

Two shots of the moon, both on different nights.
The first night was calm.
Second night was an approaching storm.
Both shot without a telephoto. I actually used my prime lens on both of these.  A prime lens is not ideal for these shots but it's what I call laziness...and see what comes of it.  :o)

These last photos were all taken on my DriodX (then taken into processing). Proof that you don't need no stinkin' high dollar camera for a nice photo.
(although, you touch my Canon you die a miserable death)

Pretty Little Divas....

I really hate shooting at our local park because it's so overused and "expected" but on this day it was just too dern hot to think about where to go and it was close for both so I went with it.
Don't get me wrong, our park is great, but everyone poses there. Ahhh!!
Sometimes you just go with it though. :0)

This session was done at almost 8pm.

A Very Interesting Vid for all of My Newborn Photog Friends.

I have many, many newborn photog friends out there who are always wondering about "the pose". This video shows how it's done and these two women have the patience of Saints!
We all love a little behind-the-scenes so I can't help but share with anyone interested.
Enjoy!

Hey! Neither the Kitty Nor the Moon Will Run From Me!

So, my kids are just about done with my camera in their faces. They go through stages. Sometimes they want their photos taken, sometimes they don't care, sometimes they are absolutely NOT wanting the camera in their faces ( I snap anyway sometimes and get the grumpy looks, but I like those looks as well).  Today was an "Eh, we could care less but we aren't slowing down for you so ....get what you can!", kinda day.
I got a couple of my youngest because she was too busy to notice and turn away like she usually does.

Here's the little kitty, my daughter found six of them a few weeks ago.....Yay! (<--- that is one of the most sarcastic "yays" I have ever typed.)

And the beautiful moon!
I was too lazy to get any sort of zoom lens on so I decided to try and get it with my 50mm 1.8 prime lens.
Not bad I say, could be better but without a zoom lens on...it'll do!

Last night we went to the Ohio Hill Folk Festival and I didn't bring my Canon because I wanted to just enjoy the kids. Of course I can't not take photos though so I whipped out my Droid X and got these, I love them! Blurry faces and all!
